Asia Muhammad Ready To Turn Pro
Thursday, March 6, 2008
Asia Muhammad, who is now attempting to make some noise on the professional circuit, defeated Tatjana Malek of Germany 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 last evening and is now into the quarterfinals at the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The sixteen year old began last year at this same tournament making her move into the professional ranks of the women's game.
Last year Asia spoke with the Las Vegas Review Journal and said, "I'm very excited about the future. I thought this is the right time (to go pro)."
"I was really nervous last year because it was my first time playing against pros and it was in front of my home crowd. I think my game is maturing. I'm not making as many errors and I'm able to do more things on the court."
Muhammad is coached by Tim Blenkiron, who has coached her during her time with Team Agassi.
