Low Post: Serena Williams On The Town

Monday, November 26, 2007

I saw this photo on Bossip, and I consider it a "Low Post" for Black Tennis Pro's because it is not my policy nor the nature of this site to portray any of the players in a negative light. However, this is not my doing, this is Serena's doing. Hopefully, seeing this photo plastered across the internet will keep her from appearing in public as such again. And we were all just applauding her stylish ways! Shame on you Serena. I still love you dearly, but shame on you.

And unless Common has taken to wearing "Cherries in the Snow" lip gloss, he really should keep a handkerchief handy.

Davis Cup Finale This Weekend, November 30-December 2

Pictured before you is the U.S. Davis Cup Team. Yes, their ties suck, BIG TIME! But their high voltage megawatt smiles more than make up for the fashion faux pas. Rather dapper looking bunch if I might say so, not that it will help their tennis, but it won't hurt either.

With the WTA and ATP tour seasons being officially over, we tennis junkies need a fix and the Davis Cup finale is just the ticket.

I am so excited that the U. S. has made it thus far, and that we have such high quality players in Andy Roddick, James Blake and Bob and Mike Bryan, and a coach like Patrick McEnroe who is solidly behind each of the guys 100%. That's half the battle right there.

Crucial to pulling out this win will be two elements. First, will Andy Roddick have shaken off his year-end championships semi-final loss to Federer and secondly, which James Blake will show up? Both players experienced "interesting" seasons this year, nonetheless, I have no doubt about their talent or ability to come out on top this weekend. That said, neither Roddick nor Blake cloak their current mental or physical state very well, we will know immediately what's up with both players. If it's good, it's all good, if it's bad, we're in trouble.

Short of injury, the Bryan brothers are pretty consistent, we can count on them to hold up their end. So, not to worry about the twins and their doubles matches.

Now, if you'll all gather round and join me in prayer....................Amen. USA!........USA!..........USA!

Oh, yes, they do have an opponent, Russia. Igor Adreev, Nikolay Davydenko, Dmitry Tursunov, Mikhail Youzhny and coach Shamil Tarpischev. While certainly not writing off Andreev and Youzhny, if Roddick and Blake are in fine form, Davydenko and Tursunov will present the battle.

Manic Monday: "Rank"

It's A Blog Eat Blog World

A set of pipes all having the same tone quality is called a rank. The most characteristic organ sound is produced by metal flue pipes called diapasons or principals; pipes of this kind form the central core of classic organ sound. Because the lowest note on most organs (two octaves below middle C) is produced by an open diapason pipe about 8 ft long, ranks of pipes at normal pitch are spoken of as 8-ft ranks. Ranks sounding an octave lower than normal are called 16-ft ranks, and those sounding an octave higher, 4-ft ranks. Mutations are ranks of pipes sounding at pitches other than octaves above normal pitch, such as an octave and a fifth above normal (for example, two G's above a C). Mixtures are ranks of pipes of different pitches operated as a single unit (by a single stop). Mixtures often contain ranks sounding several octaves above 8-ft pitch as well as mutation ranks. The high pitches of mutations and mixtures blend together to produce the incisive, bright quality that is associated with organ sound.

On large organs the ranks are grouped together into several divisions, each controlled by a separate keyboard, or manual, and having one or more wind chests, airtight boxes that act as air reservoirs. The main division is called the Great Organ; the other most common divisions are the Choir Organ, the Swell Organ, and the Pedal Organ. The pipes of the Swell Organ are enclosed in a “swell box,” a chamber having a slat-covered opening similar to a venetian blind. The slats can be opened and closed by a pedal lever, allowing gradual changes in volume.

Have A Blessed Sunday

Sunday, November 18, 2007

The ultimate proof of God's existence will come through your own experience in meditation. Once you have found Him, in the cathedral of silent meditation in the depths of your soul, you will find Him everywhere.

Sunday Sunrise Sustenance

Good Sunday Morning!

Here's a small bit of food for the soul to start your day. These are just a few excerpts from the book "Meditations on the Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren. I hope that everyone has a blessed and rich day today.

Fulfilling
Perhaps you've been trying to find your purpose in life through a career or accomplishments, or a relationship. These things alone, no matter how wonderful and fulfilling, are not your purpose, You were made for far more. You were made to last forever.

Foundation
If a building has no support and foundation it collapses. In the same way, you need support from other people and a foundation to keep you strong in your walk with God. You find that loving support when you join your brothers and sisters in Christ's church.

Fellowship
"If we walk in the light, as God is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:17

When you participate in God's family, by loving and caring for each other, that's called Fellowship. Fellowship is the second purpose of your life.

Why Does It Take So Long to change, get well, and grow up? There are several reasons: We forget what we learn and have to learn it again; We have to unlearn many wrong ideas; We are afraid to honestly face the truth about ourselves; Growth can be painful and scary; It takes time to develop godly habits.
